THB director Ricardo Borges is about to lead the specialist insurance and reinsurance broker’s European division, having been named as new managing director of the Amsterdam-based business.
The appointment comes amid Paul Lindeboom’s imminent departure on July 31. Lindeboom, who entered the world of insurance in 1979 before shifting to reinsurance in 1990, is co-managing director of THB Europe. In 1994 he came onboard PWS International, which was eventually snapped up by THB a decade ago.
“THB Europe is a fantastic business, with tremendous potential for development,” noted the retiring industry veteran. “I am delighted that it will be led in the next few years by the talented Ricardo and I look forward to seeing where he will take the business.”
Joaquim Caria, meanwhile, will facilitate Borges’ transition into the MD role at THB Europe. The former, who co-leads the division, is stepping down as executive director but will stay on to work on special projects.
“It is a great pleasure and honour to assume the leadership of THB European division,” commented Borges, who first joined the firm in 2005 as a reinsurance broker. After leaving in 2010, he spent time at Willis Fac and GC Fac as executive director and vice president, respectively. Borges moved back to THB as director in 2013.
“Knowing the team, we have plenty of opportunities to continue to grow on the successful path that Paul and Joaquim have charted,” he added. “With the stable financial backing of THB and AmWINS behind us, I look forward to taking our business to the next level.”
Commending the outgoing executive, CEO Frank Murphy said: “Paul’s years of service with THB have been nothing short of exceptional, and I hope he is looking forward to a deserved retirement. He and Joaquim have presided over some market-beating growth for our business, identifying strategic opportunities and leading our long-term expansion.
