Several key appointments have been made across the insurance industry.
Erik Johnson (pictured left) has been appointed head of technical underwriting and oversight at Markel, effective immediately. He will be based in London and report to Nick Line, chief underwriting officer for Markel International.
In this newly created role, Johnson will lead the international technical underwriting team, overseeing the implementation and maintenance of technical underwriting standards. He will also work with Chloe Adams, head of wordings, to provide strategic direction for the wordings team.
Johnson, who joined Markel in May 2024 as a consultant, has held various roles in the London market, including active, deputy active and syndicate management positions. He co-founded Link, the LGBT Insurance Network, in 2012, and remains an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the industry.
Stuart Reid (pictured right) has been appointed as chairman of Equipsme’s board of directors. His appointment comes amid the company’s strong growth, which occupies the middle ground between cash plans and PMI.
Allianz UK has made two new appointments to its commercial strategy and customer experience team.
Emily Mills returns from KPMG to become the head of continuous improvement. She will focus on embedding data-driven improvements across Allianz UK Commercial.
Meanwhile, Fleur van der Ende has been appointed as the head of customer experience. She will oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of customer experience across Allianz UK.
BHSI has named Caoimhe Gormley as country manager and Ciaran Reddin as head of executive and professional lines (E&P) in Ireland.
Gormley, who joined BHSI in 2018 as head of E&P Lines for Ireland, will also continue in her role as head of customer and broker engagement. Meanwhile, Reddin, who joined in 2019, will continue to lead professional indemnity and cyber in his expanded role.
Alessandro Cerase, head of Europe at BHSI, noted that Gormley and Reddin have both been instrumental in the company's growth in Ireland and will continue to strengthen customer and broker relationships.
Global Aerospace has appointed Christophe Paulin as president of global aerospace (Europe) SAS.
Paulin, who brings over 20 years of experience, will join from Beazley, where he helped develop the company’s aviation division strategy for mainland Europe. He will be based in Paris and will report to Rachel Barrie, group chief executive.
Paul Greenleaf has been named senior accident and health (A&H) underwriter at MGA Carrow insurance.
Based in London, Greenleaf will lead Carrow’s A&H offerings in the UK market, reporting to Ronan Conboy, CEO of Carrow Insurance. Greenleaf has 35 years of industry experience, with 25 years as an A&H underwriter.
