The platform is designed to improve efficiency by linking carriers and ensuring automatic capacity within pre-agreed parameters. It also allows additional insurers to join the platform.
Initially, Howden Auto Tracker will offer up to 25% capacity across client portfolios. By 2026, however, the platform is set to expand to secure 100% digital capacity behind selected lead markets and will introduce renewals, further streamlining the process.
The launch builds on Howden’s auto-follow strategy, using Ki’s digital follow technology, which launched in 2021 and is backed by Blackstone. The platform is supported by a panel of insurers, including QBE, providing expertise and additional capacity.
“Howden Auto Tracker brings speed, efficiency and closer alignment with our strategic partners, and the ability to secure capacity via a single source rapidly, allowing our brokers to focus on securing the right lead terms,” said Paul Towler, Howden Specialty’s chief broking officer. “Clients benefit from the speed and certainty in obtaining quotes, with more capacity available behind the most competitive lead markets.”
Alongside the launch of Auto Tracker, Howden has also moved to expand its services through strategic acquisitions. The company recently agreed to acquire Barnett Waddingham, a UK-based professional services consultancy focused on risk, pensions, investment and insurance. This acquisition is expected to bolster Howden’s pensions advisory capabilities and support its broader growth strategy, particularly in the employee benefits space.
Barnett Waddingham, established in 1989, operates across 10 UK offices and serves a diverse range of clients.
Additionally, Howden Scotland has acquired a book of business from SKB Independent Insurance Brokers Limited, an Edinburgh-based firm that provides insurance services to businesses across the UK. The acquisition will see SKB rebranded as Howden and integrated into Howden Scotland’s Edinburgh team, further expanding Howden’s network of more than 200 branches across the UK and Ireland.
