Gallagher has announced the creation of a new tax risk practice aimed at supporting clients across Europe by hiring Joyce Koch (pictured) as senior tax broker and Vera Dembski as tax broker.
Koch brings two decades of experience in tax risk broking and consulting, having held key positions at Deloitte and Aon. Throughout her career, she has advised clients on both international and domestic tax issues, including restructuring, reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Koch’s expertise also extends to the setup and maintenance of financing and holding structures, helping clients mitigate tax-related risks. She will operate from the Netherlands, serving Gallagher’s European client base starting November.
Dembski, also from Deloitte, will join Gallagher in January 2025. She previously held multiple positions at Flatex Degiro Bank with a focus on tax advisory services. Dembski will also be based in the Netherlands.
Together, the duo will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, expanding technical capabilities, and growing the firm’s tax risk solutions across Europe. They will report to Nepomuk Loesti, Gallagher’s chief commercial officer for Europe.
Loesti commented: “Gallagher is looking to expand its specialisms in Europe, and these appointments will be key to helping clients managing this complex area of risk. The opportunities for Gallagher in the tax insurance space are considerable; with the current geopolitical environment and economic conditions, clients undertaking deals are presented with increased levels of risk.
“These appointments build on our existing financial lines expertise in Europe and demonstrate our commitment to growing the insurance and risk management solutions we offer.”
