Former Tokio Marine Kiln distribution head Alastair Blundell (pictured, middle) has taken on a new role at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA).
Named as the trade body’s first general insurance (GI) head, Blundell is in charge of managing GI policy work. A boost to BIBA’s policy team, the position will see the seasoned executive represent and advance issues to the government and media, particularly the association’s Manifesto campaigns.
“I’m delighted to join BIBA; I’ve spent more than 35 years in insurance underwriting both in the UK and internationally,” noted the head of GI. “I am looking forward to the challenge of now working with the broking side of the industry to help drive professionalism and standards.”
Commenting on the appointment, which came into effect yesterday, BIBA executive director Graeme Trudgill (pictured, left) stated: “Alastair has a wealth of experience in the market working with brokers. His knowledge and experience will benefit BIBA and its members.
“There are more insurer-focused Manifesto points this year and Alastair is the ideal person to help drive these forward.”
BIBA chief executive Steve White (pictured, right) concurs and believes Blundell will help to progress the Manifesto points. “As a senior employee from an insurance company he can add to the rich mix of the BIBA team,” said White.
