In a move to support youth empowerment, Ansvar Insurance has unveiled a £225,000 funding commitment to three charities dedicated to guiding young people toward positive life choices.
The initiative, part of the company's Programme of Giving, will see each organisation receive £75,000 over the next three years.
“Our Programme of Giving extends beyond monetary donations. It encompasses our Community Hub, a free and bookable office space in our Brighton offices, available to local charities and not-for-profit organisations, as well as a colleague volunteering and fundraising initiative and our three-year cycle of grant-giving,” said Sarah Cox, the managing director of Ansvar.
The selected charities - Esteem, TRAIN, and Hand in Hand - were chosen for their efforts in assisting children and young people in making positive lifestyle choices.
Based in Sussex, Esteem (pictured) offers a range of services, including counselling, life skills workshops, and work experience opportunities, to help young people aged 14 to 26 develop self-worth and potential. The funding will go towards the charity's Positive Change Programme, which aims to support young people in managing their emotions, improving social skills, and enhancing mental wellbeing. The programme will also include activities such as boxing, football, and surfing, as well as access to trained youth workers for personalised guidance.
Oxfordshire-based TRAIN uses detached youth work to reach young people in public spaces such as parks and town centres. This approach allows the charity to provide immediate, non-judgmental support. The funding from Ansvar will allow TRAIN to expand its outreach, increasing the number of young people it serves to 400 annually. This will be achieved by enhancing the frequency of sessions and creating a tailored programme to support young people in underserved areas.
Hand in Hand, which operates in London and Manchester, focuses on encouraging young people to engage in altruistic activities through hands-on volunteering. The charity aims to foster life skills such as resilience and compassion by connecting young people with community needs. Ansvar’s funding will support Hand in Hand’s core activities, including enhancing volunteer training and expanding outreach to improve both the wellbeing of volunteers and the people they assist.
“We are delighted to support Esteem, TRAIN and Hand in Hand as they continue their vital work with young people. This initiative is more than just a donation – it is a partnership. We understand the significant financial pressures facing charities, and we hope this funding will support these organisations in expanding their reach and sustaining their impact," said Cox.
Cox also emphasised Ansvar’s commitment to staying closely connected with the charities and witnessing the positive changes they bring to young lives.
