One of the biggest names in the UK insurance industry will soon be back in action – as Aviva this morning announced the appointment of Amanda Blanc.
Blanc, the former leader of AXA in the UK and Ireland, as well as a former chief executive officer of EMEA and global banking partnerships at Zurich, is set to take on the role of independent non-executive director at the UK insurance giant beginning January 02. The first female chair of the Association of British Insurers will take the chair of the governance committee role held by Claudia Arney and will become a member of the nomination and risk committees.
“Amanda’s breadth and depth of experience of the UK and European insurance industry, and her detailed understanding of business and customers, make her an excellent addition to our board,” said Aviva chairman Adrian Montague.
Blanc, a former Insurance Business Woman of Influence, had spoken out about her decision to end her short-lived stint at Zurich earlier this year.
The move for Blanc, who has also held management positions at the likes of Commercial Union and Groupama Insurance Company, as well as Towergate Insurance Brokers, comes as Aviva looks to reorganise into five divisions while selling its stake in its Hong Kong business.
Aviva, and Towergate Insurance were awarded in IBUK's Brokers on Commercial Motors. View the list of winners in 2023 Best Commercial Car Insurance UK special report.
