Alan Boswell Group (ABG) has acquired Andrew Thompson & Associates (AT&A), a commercial insurance broker based in East Suffolk, established in 2010.

The move follows ABG’s purchase of two Norfolk-based brokers, Priory Insurance Brokers and The Insurance Centre, in 2024. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, AT&A’s staff and premises will remain operational, and the company’s clients will have access to the broader range of services offered by ABG, which employs 450 people across its financial services division. This acquisition also strengthens ABG’s presence in Suffolk, complementing its existing office in Bury St Edmunds.

Andrew Thompson, founder of AT&A, stated that the firm will continue to provide the same level of service that its clients are accustomed to, while benefiting from the increased resources and market presence offered by ABG.

Alan Boswell, executive chairman of Alan Boswell Group, welcomed AT&A into the group, noting that the firm shares ABG’s values and commitment to client service. He expressed confidence that the team at AT&A would contribute positively to ABG’s operations.

In addition to the acquisition of AT&A, Alan Boswell Group recently partnered with niche commercial insurer Peach to expand its scheme for complementary therapists. This marks the second collaboration between ABG and Peach, following the insurer’s appointment in October 2024 to enhance the teacher’s liability scheme.

Since then, the scheme has seen growth, and ABG aims to replicate that success with the complementary therapists scheme. Peach remains the exclusive insurance provider for members of the Association of Reflexologists and the International Federation of Aromatherapists, with over 2,800 policyholders holding public liability and treatment risk cover through the company.

ABG has also acquired Norwich-based broker The Insurance Centre. As part of the acquisition, the workforce of The Insurance Centre will be integrated into ABG’s head office at Prospect House in Norwich to ensure continuity of service.
