Marsh McLennan subsidiary and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter reinsurance specialist has completed its acquisition of the remaining 51.5% stake in Carpenter Turner, a regional reinsurance broking and advisory firm based in Athens.
Guy Carpenter noted that the move solidifies the company’s presence in Greece, Cyprus, the Balkans, and Turkey.
Effective immediately, Alexander Turner, former CEO of Carpenter Turner, has been appointed CEO of Guy Carpenter Greece. He will report to Julian Enoizi, CEO of Guy Carpenter Europe.
The business will now operate under the Guy Carpenter Greece brand, offering a broad portfolio of reinsurance and advisory services, including treaty and facultative reinsurance, data and analytics, strategic advisory, and capital markets solutions.
Turner will oversee all reinsurance operations in Greece and Cyprus, collaborating closely with other Marsh McLennan businesses, including Marsh, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman, to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
The expanded operations also aim to leverage Guy Carpenter’s global capabilities alongside the local expertise and regional knowledge established by Carpenter Turner.
The acquisition was first announced in November 2024. Carpenter Turner, established in 2013 as a joint venture between Guy Carpenter and local management, has served clients across Greece, Cyprus, the Balkans, and Turkey. The partnership combined regional market expertise with Guy Carpenter’s global analytical resources and access to international markets.
By integrating Carpenter Turner fully into its operations, Guy Carpenter said that it aims to strengthen its ability to provide reinsurance and strategic advisory services in these key markets, aligning with its broader growth objectives in the region.
Elsewhere, Guy Carpenter also announced the appointment of Cem Altuntas as managing director in the Capital & Advisory team.
Based in the firm's New York office, Altuntas will focus on capital raising and M&A advisory services, primarily supporting clients across North America. His role officially began in December.
