The Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) has launched its national licensing campaign across various digital channels, including Google’s search, display and performance max ad space, to allow property and casualty (P&C) insurance professionals to access education related to their careers.

The campaign makes resources more accessible so professionals can stay updated on the most current licensing guidance required to acquire or maintain their provincial or territorial insurance licensing.

It also allows students to write their licensing exams remotely and in a virtually proctored format, to have greater flexibility and scheduling options outside of working hours.

Peter Hohman, president and chief executive of the IIC, said: “Our materials empower licensed learners to gain competencies required to assist clients. In turn, these licensed brokers, agents and adjusters serve the needs of the industry and their communities by ensuring their coverage needs are met, should the worst happen.”

The IIC is the premier professional education body for the P&C insurance industry. It sets professional standards for the industry through educational programs, leading to a range of designations such as the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP).

In 2023, the IIC released a report on the challenges the insurance industry was set to face in 2024, particularly in the realm of talent, recruitment and workplace satisfaction. The report identified the lack of qualified external candidates and the so-called “Great Resignation” during the COVID-19 pandemic as the key issues in recruitment in the industry.
