Insurance Business Australia has released the 2023 list of the most inspiring women in insurance. The Elite Women report showcase honours how these female leaders demonstrate their expertise not only through industry knowledge and experience, but through unfailing kindness and thoughtfulness.
The report also highlights the challenges women face in the industry and how to overcome them by finding good mentors, having patience in crafting one’s career, and striving to achieve work-life balance.
“Don’t do it alone,” said 2023 awardee Jenny Whitby of ATC Insurance Solution. “Find your mentors. Find the people who get you and are like-minded and able to support each other, and you’ll be able to succeed.”
Fellow winner Nilima Pokala also shared her struggles with the gender pay gap and making her bosses listen. “Being female and of Indian ethnicity did throw a few curveballs my way, but that was temporary, as every time my work spoke for me, and my desire and genuine passion for this industry to help people automatically outshone the disadvantages,” she said.
