Melbourne-based insurance brokerage domo insurance has appointed Anthony White (pictured) as head of property and construction as the brokerage continues to expand its presence in the Australian market.
The move aligns with the firm’s strategy to strengthen its offerings in the property and construction sector following its first year of operations.
domo’s focus on the construction sector comes at a time when global insurance capacity for construction risks is rising , with a 2024 report from WTW indicating that market capacity is approaching levels last seen in 2019. Key factors driving this trend include investment in infrastructure projects, pricing stability, and opportunities for insurers to fill coverage gaps.
White recently returned to Melbourne after nearly 10 years in London, where he worked with Aon’s international construction team at the Global Broking Centre. Prior to that, he spent four years with Aon in Melbourne. During his time in the UK, he specialised in placing insurance for large-scale construction projects and global annual programs.
In his new role at domo, White will oversee the company’s property and construction portfolio, focusing on developing customised solutions for clients in these sectors.
domo CEO Will Dunn said the firm’s expansion required experienced leadership in key areas.
“From a team of just two to now 10, our growth has been exceptional, and we are proud to have someone of Anthony’s calibre join us at this exciting time,” he said.
He added that the new addition’s expertise and international background will strengthen the team as it continues to expand.
“We are delighted to welcome Anthony White to the domo team as our new head of property and construction. Anthony’s industry expertise and global experience will be invaluable as we continue to build on the success we’ve achieved in our first-year trading at domo,” Dunn said.
domo launched in Melbourne in 2024, founded by industry professionals John Paul Whitbread, Will Dunn, and Eliza White.
The brokerage provides a range of insurance solutions across property and casualty, construction, private clients, and specialty lines. It also leverages technology to streamline operations and enhance client engagement.
Whitbread, who has previously held leadership roles at Zurich, GIO, and Lloyd’s of London, serves as chairperson. Dunn, in his role as CEO, brings experience from leadership positions in the Asian insurance sector. Meanwhile, White, as chief operating officer, oversees operational strategy and client service.
Dunn said the firm aims to take a technology-driven approach to the market.
“We have developed a game-changing tech solution which will bring decades of industry expertise to our clients at the click of a button,” he said.
White said that the firm is building a team with expertise in key industries.
“Adding to our own expertise, we have assembled a team of industry specific experts who can service our private clients and those operating in the property and construction industries,” she said.
