Global specialty insurer StarStone has announced the launch of its crisis management division and three recent appointments to its war and terrorism team.

The newly-formed division builds on StarStone's existing war and terrorism division, to offer war and terrorism reinsurance and credit and political risks insurance.

Meanwhile, joining StarStone's war and terrorism team, led by Simon Low, group head of political risks and crisis management, were James Hannan as head of war and terrorism; Andrew Summers as senior political risk underwriter; and Amy Henry as war and terrorism underwriter.

Hannan joined StarStone from Antares Managing Agency, where he was most recently class underwriter for terrorism and political violence. Prior to that, he was with Travelers Syndicate 5000 as deputy class underwriter for terrorism.

Summers previously served as a credit and political risks underwriter at ArgoGlobal. Before that, he was a political risk underwriter for AIG Europe.

Henry joined the team from Antares Managing Agency, where she served as deputy terrorism underwriter.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of our new crisis management division, which builds on the established strengths of our war and terrorism team, and to welcome James, Andy, and Amy,” said Demian Smith, StarStone group CEO. “Added to our existing team, they collectively form a considerable capability that will be a significant asset in StarStone’s continued success and development.”
