Do you have clients whose names are Michael or Sarah? Then it might be interesting for you to know that people with these names are statistically more likely to be caught in a travel mishap and lodge a travel-insurance claim.
An analysis of World Nomads data from the past five years revealed that 10% of all insurance claims came from people with the same 10 names – Michael, David, Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, Peter, Sarah, Thomas, and Jessica.
“Are Michaels and Sarahs inherently more adventurous? Who knows?” said Phil Sylvester, World Nomads travel safety expert, in a news.com.au report. “If you’re thinking of starting a family and want them to be safe when they venture out into the world, you should consider giving them a different name.”
Michael, David, Matthew, Andrew, Christopher, James, Daniel, Peter, Thomas, and Paul are the most common male names in World Nomads’ five years of claims data; while Sarah, Jessica, Emma, Rebecca, Kate or Katherine, Emily, Hannah, Elizabeth, Nicole or Nicola, and Laura are the female names often attached to insurance claims.
On the other side of the spectrum, people with the first names Yael, Kazia, Sylvie, Sunny, Saxon, Wilfried, Yolanda, Dakota, Zara, and Tobi are attached to the fewest number of claims. Only two claims came from people named Tommy, seven from Arthurs, and 18 from Waynes, news.com.au reported.
