Insurer RACQ has commenced its Unroadworthy Roads Survey 2018, and urged local motorists to participate in the survey to help identify Brisbane’s most dangerous roads in need of urgent attention.
“As drivers, we’re all too familiar with those frustrating and troublesome roads in our area,” said Lucinda Ross, RACQ spokesperson. “Whether it’s a road that’s full of potholes, is narrow, lacks overtaking lanes, and line markings, or is the first to go under when it rains – we need your help in pinpointing it. We’ll then use these results to lobby local, state, and federal governments to prioritise funding to upgrade and maintain these roads. Last time we ran our survey, more than 400 sub-standard roads were identified across the state.”
Ross said previous surveys helped get funding improvements for the Bruce Highway and Pacific Motorway.
“We all deserve to have a say on where we want our rates and taxes spent – but we can’t help get the right roads fixed if we don’t know where they are,” she said. “You’re our eyes on the ground and your suggestions could help save lives, or simply make the commute a little more bearable for everyone using that particular road.”
Taking part in the survey, which could be found at https://www.racq.com/badroads, will give participants a chance to win one of two $250 EFTPOS gift cards in a lucky draw.
The survey will close on June 18.
