The chief executive officers of Sedgwick Australia and Ando Insurance are the newest board members of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). Diego Ascani and John Lyon were officially appointed to the board at ANZIIF’s May 21 annual general meeting which was conducted as an online webinar.
Lyon is a highly respected leader in the New Zealand insurance market, while two-decade stalwart Ascani oversees Sedgwick’s insurance, loss adjusting, forensic accounting, third-party administrator, and building restoration services across Australia.
“We are extremely delighted to welcome Diego and John to the board,” commented ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford. “They have both been great advocates of ANZIIF for years, and will provide a world of knowledge and insight to our board.”
Ascani, who looks forward to working with the board to help the industry navigate what he described as a changing insurance landscape, is of the view that there is a need to evolve to remain relevant and sustainable into the future.
For Lyon, it is key to further professional development, pointing to how people remain the driving force of the sector and that there’s never been a better time for insurance professionals to learn new skills and acquire new capabilities.
Meanwhile AMP group executive for insurance Megan Beer as well as Zurich’s general insurance Australia and New Zealand chief executive Tim Plant will remain as ANZIIF president and deputy president, respectively.
