Hamilton is bolstering its board with new additions, following the release of its Q4 2023 results.
The re/insurance group has announced the addition of Dr Therese Vaughan (pictured above, left) and Neil Patterson (pictured above, right) to its board of directors, with their roles commencing on March 11, 2024.
Vaughan brings a background in education, corporate governance, and insurance regulation to the board. Notably, she served as CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and held the position of Iowa Insurance Commissioner for over a decade, making history as the state’s first female commissioner.
Vaughan’s international regulatory experience includes her roles on the executive committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and the US/EU Insurance Dialogue Project. She has also chaired the Joint Forum, an international supervisory group. Her current board positions include AIG, Verisk Analytics, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, WestBank, and the Food Bank of Iowa.
Meanwhile, Patterson, retired chair of the KPMG group of entities in Bermuda, has been tenured with KPMG since 1989, including over 20 years as a lead audit partner and roles in risk management and leadership within the firm.
Patterson has played an active role in Bermuda’s community, co-founding Ignite Bermuda and Bermuda Investor Community Limited, initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and investment on the island.
In addition to this new role, Patterson is also set to assume the position of chair of the audit committee upon joining the board.
Concurrently, Pauline Richards, who has served as the chair of the audit committee, will be stepping down from her role on the board, marking the end of her decade-long tenure, also effective March 11, 2024.
Hamilton’s board chair, David A. Brown, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments, emphasizing the value they bring to the board.
“It is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to our newest board members. Their expertise and diverse perspectives will be instrumental as we continue to drive value for our clients and shareholders as a newly public company. As we celebrate our company’s 10-year anniversary, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Pauline for her many contributions over the past decade as one of Hamilton’s longest-serving directors,” Brown said.
Pina Albo, Hamilton’s chief executive officer, also welcomed the new directors, highlighting their expected contributions to the company’s growth.
“I am thrilled to welcome Terri and Neil to our company’s esteemed board of directors. Their wealth of experience and keen intellect will further enrich our board’s already robust discussions and be invaluable as we continue to expand our business and relationships,” Albo said.
