Zurich North America has announced the appointment of a new head of life sciences for its US middle market business unit.
Linda Schultz has been appointed to the role. She will join the Industry Practices leadership team and report to John Mizzi, head of Industry Practices, US middle market. In her new role, Schultz will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to build life sciences industry specialization and underwriting expertise for several sub-segments, including medical device manufacturers and providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, research and development labs, and clinical trial administrators.
“Linda has extensive life sciences leadership experience and is a recognized expert within the insurance industry,” Mizzi said. “I am thrilled to add her to the Industry Practices team. She will be a valuable thought leader as we continue to expand our middle-market underwriting appetite.”
Life sciences is a $4 billion insurance segment and is still growing rapidly, Zurich said. Zurich will begin accepting submissions for life sciences business in early 2022.
Prior to joining Zurich, Schultz served as head of life science US product liability at The Hartford. In that role, she successfully integrated the Navigators life sciences team, which she previously led, with The Hartford’s life sciences division. She has also held roles at OneBeacon, Hilb Rogal & Hobbs, Chubb and Travelers.
