The National Insurance Crime Bureau has appointed Kyle McCollum as vice president of strategy, policy and government affairs, effective Dec. 9.

McCollum, who earned his law degree from Southern Illinois University, started his legal career on Capitol Hill, serving as senior counsel on the Judiciary Committee in the US Senate for Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley.

He recently was an attorney at Venable LLP, where he focused on defense contracting and government affairs, including complex litigation, regulatory compliance, congressional investigations and public policy.

Prior to joining Venable, McCollum clerked at the US Court of Federal Claims for Judge Zachary Somers.

“Kyle brings a wealth of experience handling the most complex policy issues in the most intense legislative environments,” said Rich DiZinno, NICB’s senior vice president and general counsel, a position he has held since Sept. 1, 2023. DiZinno previously served as NICB’s vice president of strategy, policy and government affairs, the role McCollum is taking on.

“Along with his experience as a practicing lawyer, Kyle is well equipped to lead the Strategy, Policy and Government Affairs group in helping to achieve NICB’s goals,” DiZinno said.

Based in Illinois, the NICB is an insurance industry association dedicated to preventing and prosecuting insurance crimes.

Earlier this year, the NICB partnered with 20 states to combat contractor fraud, educating homeowners and business owners on how to spot deceptive contractors. It also previously launched focused initiatives, including educating the public on familiarizing themselves with emerging fraud trends, as well as noting the rising trend of motorcycle theft.

The NICB is supported by more than 1,200 property and casualty insurers and self-insured organizations.
