Newfront Insurance has revealed that, effectively immediately, it has appointed Michael Brown (pictured) to the role of chief operating officer.
Brown has more than two decades of experience in operations leadership. He joins Newfront from Uber, where he was responsible for overseeing the transportation networking company’s business in Southeast Asia and Australia. In that role, Brown was in charge of a 2,000-person team. Prior to Uber, he was in charge of user growth, monetization, and public relations for Twitter’s overseas business; he also oversaw Twitter’s strategy and execution of corporate acquisitions. Before joining Twitter, Brown served as senior manager of corporate development at Facebook, where he supervised more than 10 acquisitions.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Mike to the Newfront team as our COO,” said Newfront co-founder and CEO Spike Lipkin. “As a seasoned and widely respected leader, he brings a tremendous wealth of experience to help us advance Newfront’s mission to modernize the insurance industry on behalf of our brokers and their clients.”
“It’s a thrill to work alongside Newfront’s founders, Spike and Gordon, to modernize a centuries old industry,” added Brown.
He went on to state that brokers and their clients “deserve a better experience when they transact and manage insurance,” and that he looks forward to meeting those expectations.
This is the second high-profile appointment for Newfront in recent times. In May, the firm appointed Mike Daoussis – former vice-president of USI – to serve as the company’s principal and head of program innovation.
