The insurer has named Andy Camber (pictured above, left) its new lead underwriter and Pete Philpott (pictured above, right) its new senior underwriter in the property line of AmTrust International Specialty, effective November 2022.
Camber has more than 25 years of London and Lloyd’s market experience in the commercial property sector and the UK general insurance industry. He joined AmTrust from Brit Insurance, where he was a class underwriter for over eight years, leading a team of underwriters delivering profitable results and long-term sustainability. Previously, he held senior underwriting roles at Amlin UK and Zurich Insurance. In his new role, Camber is based in London and reports to Bruce Whitmee, chief underwriting officer at AmTrust Europe Limited (AEL), a subsidiary of AmTrust.
Philpott has over 15 years of experience in the property sector of the London market within Lloyd’s and the company space. In his previous roles at Argo, and latterly at RiverStone International, he was responsible for the profitable development and ongoing management of both the UK and European property classes. He also held property underwriting roles at Amlin UK and Zurich Insurance. In his new role, Philpott is based in London and reports to Camber.
Commenting on the new appointments, Whitmee welcomed Camber and Philpott to AmTrust’s property insurance team.
“Underwriting specialised property risks is one of AmTrust’s strengths,” he said. “I am delighted to welcome Andy and Pete to the team, both of whom have strong records in this field.”
Camber added: “I look forward to contributing to the profitable growth of property insurance at AmTrust, where I will be working closely with the property teams based in Nottingham, London, and Dublin. I am ready to take on the challenge of expanding AmTrust’s property portfolio in the UK and other European markets.”
The appointments come as AmTrust seeks to further grow its property book in the UK and other European markets. They follow the appointments of Andrew Bulley and Peter Goddard to the AEL board.
