Insurance brokers take their role as a force for societal good seriously – and that means they will still be doing their bit for charity, even when times may be tough for their own businesses.
That is the conclusion Ecclesiastical has made after 1,035 brokers voted for 572 charities across the UK in its Movement for Goods awards. Its analysis shows that 93% of brokers are still likely to donate as the effort ramps up to see a total of £1 million awarded to charities across the UK during the summer.
According to the findings, brokers are more likely to support a local charity than a national one during this period – with 33% pledging support to a health charity, with community charities picking up 24% of the support.
“We have seen an overwhelming public response to our Movement for Good awards and would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a good cause,” said Mark Hews, group CEO. “It’s clear that people care deeply about those in need, perhaps even more so at a time when charities and in turn the people and projects they support, need it the most. Indeed, from looking at the nomination data, community and healthcare organisations are understandably front of mind recently.”
Later this summer, another 10 charities will be chosen to receive £50,000 from the insurer to put towards the advancement of arts, skills, education, culture and heritage.
