Arch Insurance, MS Amlin, and Van Ameyde Marine have each made new senior appointments as part of their ongoing operational and strategic initiatives across European and UK markets.

Arch Insurance has named Paul Seip (pictured above, left) as head of fine art & specie for European Markets. Based in Rotterdam, Seip will lead the development of the insurer’s Fine Art & Specie underwriting platform across the European Union.

His remit includes oversight of fine art, general specie, jewellers block, and cash-in-transit lines. Seip will collaborate closely with Peter Brooks, head of fine art & specie for global markets at Arch Insurance International.

He joins from Liberty Specialty Markets, where he served as underwriting manager for fine art & specie in the Benelux and Scandinavia regions. His prior experience includes roles at AXA ART and Allianz, and he brings over 12 years of sector experience to the role.

Earlier this month, Arch Insurance International also promoted Alex Clark to healthcare underwriting manager. In this role, he will oversee underwriting activities across the healthcare portfolio, including hospital professional liability, long-term care, and physician professional liability.

MS Amlin head of strategy

MS Amlin, the Lloyd’s global re/insurer, has appointed John Gately (pictured above, right) as head of strategy, financial planning, and performance. Gately will be based in London and report to chief financial officer Jessie Burrows.

His responsibilities will include developing financial strategy, improving planning and forecasting capabilities, and driving data-led performance measurement. Gately’s career spans 20 years in the insurance and financial services sector, beginning at KPMG before moving into senior roles at Bernstein Research and HSBC, where he led the global insurance FP&A function.

Most recently, he served as head of FP&A for Hiscox’s London Market business. Gately is a chartered ACA-qualified accountant.

The re/insurer’s last major appointments came in October, when it tapped Jo Hine and Andrew Downes as independent non-executive directors.

Van Ameyde Marine UK managing director

Van Ameyde Marine has appointed Chris Boyd as Managing Director of its UK operations. Boyd brings more than three decades of maritime experience to the role, having started his career in the Royal Navy specialising in hydrographic surveying before moving into naval architecture and systems integration.

His experience spans marine cargo, heavy lift operations, and the transport and installation of critical components. He has led projects across sectors including oil and gas, renewables, and defence, providing advisory services to P&I Clubs, underwriters, and maritime legal professionals.

Boyd previously held leadership positions at the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors and served as CEO of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), where he contributed to global standards in marine engineering and supported the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
