Ardonagh Advisory has continued its expansion by acquiring PB Curran, an independent, family-run broker that specialises in commercial, landlords, farming, and private client insurance.
PB Curran was founded by Patrick Curran, director Edward Curran's father, in 1961. With over 50 years of experience in general insurance, the company has established long-standing relationships with insurers and clients across the UK.
Meanwhile, Ardonagh Advisory is Ardonagh Group's SME broking platform comprising Ethos Broking, Bravo Networks, Footman James, Hera Indemnity, Lorega, Towergate, Towergate Health & Protection, Thompson & Bryan, Compass UK, and Usay Compare brands.
As part of the agreement, PB Curran will join Ethos Broking to build its presence in Yorkshire and the North East of England along with Ethos brokers Schofield, Lockyer, and BSIS.
PB Curran director Edward Curran will continue to run the business day-to-day while working with Richard Tuplin (who leads Ethos Broking as part of his role as CEO of Advisory Insurance Brokers Limited) and Alan Sumner (regional managing director at Ethos Broking).
Commenting on the acquisition, Curran said joining Ardonagh Advisory will enable the company to continue to operate in a way that aligns with its values.
“PB Curran is a family-run broker, with decades' worth of experience, serving our clients and developing trusted relationships, so when it came to taking our next steps, it was incredibly important to make the right decision,” Curran said. “During our initial discussions, it soon became clear we had found the right partner. Ethos [puts its] clients and staff at the centre of [its] business. [It] represents a new chapter for PB Curran, and we're excited by the many possibilities available within Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.”
Advisory Insurance Brokers Limited CEO Richard Tuplin commented that PB Curran's history, diverse specialisms, and access to high-quality and competitive insurance products will support the business's proposition within the Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.
“PB Curran is a highly respected business that upholds traditional values with a commitment to client service at its core,” Tuplin said. “We look forward to working with Edward and the team and exploring further opportunities to expand our footprint in York and surrounding areas.”
