The Association of Commercial P&I Insurers Limited (ACPII) has now set sail.

Launched by founding members MS Amlin and Hydor, ACPII will promote commercial protection and indemnity in the global markets and liaise with shipping industry stakeholders.

“The world of P&I insurance is very complex with a myriad of stakeholders,” said Hydor managing director Morten Skomsoy. “We fully support an association to represent the interests of the commercial P&I insurers in this rapidly changing world.”

Hydor is a Lloyd’s managing general underwriter that provides owner’s P&I, charterer’s P&I, freight demurrage & defence, energy, marine equipment, and related covers.

Serving as directors of the new trade body are Bianca te Poele, Liv Irene Loland, Eugène van Steekelenburg, and Johan Gjernes. Hydor’s Capt. Bert Wardetzki, meanwhile, has been tapped to be secretariat head and secretary to ACPII.

“We have been long-standing advocates for a body to represent the common interests of commercial P&I insurers, so welcome the formation of the ACPII,” noted MS Amlin Marine managing director Tom Oostra.

Part of the MS&AD Group, MS Amlin Marine offers insurance solutions for shipowners’ P&I, charterers’ liability, hull, cargo, cargo liability, yacht, specie, and war.

ACPII is based in London.
