The Clear Group has announced the rebranding of its Managing General Agent (MGA) division to Shape Underwriting, effective May 1, 2025. This move consolidates its underwriting operations under a single brand.
Shape Underwriting combines Profile Underwriting and One Commercial Specialty, bringing Clear Group's MGA operations into a unified platform. The decision is part of Clear's aim to strengthen its position in the UK insurance market through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
“The rebranding to Shape Underwriting is a significant milestone,” said Mandy Hunt (pictured), managing director of Shape Underwriting. “By unifying our MGA businesses under a single brand, we are able to enhance our ability to provide specialised underwriting expertise and exceptional service to our broker partners. We are excited about the opportunities this rebrand presents for our broker partners and our people and how this sets us up for our future growth plans.”
Shape Underwriting will now trade under this new brand across its portfolio, which spans a variety of specialty lines, with a focus on creating tailored solutions for brokers in sectors such as commercial, property, and casualty insurance.
The rebrand coincides with Clear Group's recent expansion efforts. In April 2025, the company acquired Moore Robinson Ltd, a London-based independent insurance broker specialising in property portfolios and construction projects. Founder Robin Moore and his team have joined Clear's corporate division.
Additionally, in February 2025, Clear Group acquired Dublin-based broker Phelan Caswell Insurances (PCI), including its financial planning assets. The acquisition expanded Clear's presence in Ireland and enhanced its service offerings to over 2,500 clients across various sectors.
These strategic acquisitions align with Clear Group's commitment to growth and innovation, positioning Shape Underwriting as a key player in the evolving insurance landscape.
