Investment, protection, retirement, and in-house advice specialist LV= has appointed Gary Beyer as its new protection proposition director.

Beyer will join LV= in July, bringing nearly 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, including senior positions at Royal London, Scottish Widows, and Prudential Assurance. Most recently, he led the Royal London Modernisation programme as head of its protection futures proposition.

In his new role, Beyer will lead the LV= protection team and continue to develop its protection business.

Katherine Carnegie, LV= chief commercial officer, commented on the appointment and the expertise that Bayer brings to this role.

“We’ve secured a great talent in recruiting Gary as protection proposition director. He brings a wealth of experience in the protection space with him to LV= and will further strengthen my team. He will be at the forefront of the continuing success of the protection business,” Carnegie said.

“I’m delighted to be appointed to LV= as protection proposition director. LV= is a growing and dynamic business and I’m excited to bring my experience of the mutual life sector to this role. I’m looking forward to getting started and contributing to the future growth of LV=,” Beyer said.

Claims figures for LV=

In April, LV= reported its individual protection claims figures for 2023. The highest payment for critical illness claims was £618,000, and for life, including terminal illness, it was £2 million.

“In 2023 LV= paid out £135 million in protection claims, which is the highest on record LV= has paid out for protection claims. More than 8,000 individuals and their families have benefited from having an LV= protection policy in place, and we’re proud to have supported them through the difficult moments in their lives,” LV= head of underwriting and claims Anna Rogers said.
