McLarens has hired Nigel Collins (pictured) as technical lead for its cyber & technology business in the UK and Ireland.
Collins is known within the industry as an expert in handling cyber and technology losses, according to a statement by McLarens. He has over 30 years’ experience, including senior management roles at national and global loss adjusting firms, including his most recent stint at Sedgwick, where he managed its cyber and technology division.
In his new role, Collins will work to grow the firm’s cyber and technology capabilities, from both operational and technical perspectives. He will also help build a nationwide team of specialist adjusters.
Over the past two decades, Collins worked on construction, engineering and technology losses, before focusing more on cyber and becoming recognised as one of the foremost experts in the field across the loss adjusting industry. He regularly deals with cybercrime, ransomware attacks, cyber liability, data breach and cyber BI claims, at all levels, for banks, major corporations, SMEs and public sector organisations, McLarens said. Collins’ MBA dissertation focussed on the take up of cyber insurance within the SME market.
“At McLarens, we are focused on delivering market leading, technical expertise to complex, commercial and niche insurance markets,” said Steven Wallace, McLarens’ managing director for UK & Ireland. “Cyber and technology is an area that requires just that, and it’s great to have someone of Nigel’s calibre on board to spearhead our offering to this market.
“There are only a handful of true ‘experts’ when it comes to cyber and technology claims and Nigel is one of them. He has a great reputation and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
