Munich Re’s HSB Engineering Insurance (HSB) has two new independent non-executive directors joining its board – one of them to serve as chairperson.
Jeff Herdman (pictured), who brings with him more than 35 years of experience in the financial and professional sector, is the new board chair at the specialist engineering and construction insurer. Currently he also serves as non-executive director at Swansea Building Society and Tasker Insurance Group.
Also appointed as independent non-executive director is Craig Scarr, who was with Mazars for 28 years where he served as UK head of insurance. Scarr is also a non-executive director at Tokio Marine HCC and the United States Automobile Association.
“Both Jeff and Craig have admirable reputations in the industry, and their experience will make a significant contribution to the business,” said HSB managing director Stephen Worrall. “We are delighted to welcome them to HSB.”
Scarr – who has strong expertise in governance, risk, internal controls, and insurance – will also serve as chair of the firm’s finance, audit, and risk committee. Meanwhile Herdman, whose experience includes time spent at Oval Group and Willis, will bring valuable insights given his specialist knowledge of insurance and customer strategy.
