Specialist motor insurer ERS has unveiled plans to bolster its counter fraud operations in Swansea by investing in both personnel and advanced technology.
The move is aimed at addressing the evolving landscape of fraudulent claims and has two primary goals: enhancing fraud detection to help reduce insurance premiums for customers and generating new career opportunities in the region.
Tom Cummings (pictured), who joined ERS in January as head of counter fraud, now leads the company’s efforts in fighting policy and claims fraud. Under his leadership, the counter fraud team has expanded by 25%, with additional growth expected.
ERS has also made notable technological investments, including exploring the use of artificial intelligence to improve fraud detection and operational efficiency.
“Fraud is changing rapidly because of technology,” said Cummings. “We need better strategies, better knowledge, and better tools to stay ahead. Using AI will play a part of that. Reducing fraud claims not only helps our business but also leads to fairer premiums for customers.
“The investment also supports job growth in Swansea bringing a career in counter fraud to the region.”
Located at Crucible Park, ERS’s Swansea office is home to nearly 500 professionals working across multiple departments including claims, underwriting, IT, and governance.
ERS talent resourcer Jodie Aucamp added: “We’ve put a lot of effort into growing our Swansea office over the past few years because we’re committed to bringing in and nurturing local talent. We want to give people of all ages a chance to build exciting careers with us. Our latest investment in our counter fraud department is just another step in that direction.”
For those interested in joining the growing Swansea team, job opportunities are available on the ERS Careers page.
