FUW Insurance Services Limited has launched a new division, FUW Commercial, aimed at expanding its presence in the commercial insurance market across north Wales.

The new venture will initially serve businesses along the A55 corridor, offering insurance cover across a range of sectors, including haulage, construction, hospitality, motor trade, retail, and leisure.

The launch marks a shift from the organisation’s traditional focus on agricultural clients, broadening its offer to include commercial enterprises.

FUW Commercial will provide access to a selection of commercial insurance products, including cover for property, vehicles, liability, and business continuity. The business is positioning itself as a regional provider with local knowledge and sector-specific expertise, supported by its established broker network.

The new operation will be led by Esther Richards Dip CII, who has worked for FUW Insurance Services since 2013 across its Flintshire and Denbighshire offices.

“I’m very excited to be leading this new project aimed at prioritising the insurance needs of businesses and commercial outlets,” said Richards.

FUW Insurance Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Farmers’ Union of Wales. The launch of FUW Commercial coincides with the union’s 70th anniversary. The new division forms part of a wider strategy to grow the organisation’s insurance operations beyond its core agricultural base.

“We continually look for opportunities to develop the FUW Insurance Services brand and to serve businesses in Wales who need insurance cover,” said Guto Bebb, Group CEO of the Farmers’ Union of Wales. “Esther’s specialised knowledge and passion for commercial and business insurance allowed us to develop a new brand specialising in commercial opportunities.”

FUW Commercial will operate as a separate business line, while continuing to share operational support with the wider FUW Insurance Services team. The company has indicated that the commercial arm may be rolled out to additional regions in future, depending on client demand.
