Flood Re has joined the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) as an official partner, marking the first time a public body has joined the association.
Over the years, BIBA and Flood Re have embarked on several collaborative ventures, notably launching the Flood Insurance Directory with the Association of British Insurers in 2022. In a more recent endeavour, Flood Re contributed to BIBA’s educational efforts through a series of webinars for brokers focussed on the Build Back Better initiative.
“We share a number of common goals with Flood Re including to support access to, and affordability of flood insurance,” BIBA chief executive Graeme Trudgill said. “We already work very closely with them on the important issues around flood cover availability and promoting the Flood Insurance Directory to help consumers find suitable insurance.
“We have long campaigned for Build Back Better, so are keen to support its implementation and help brokers understand the scheme, along with helping to increase awareness of the benefits of property flood resilience measures. Bringing Flood Re on as a partner will strengthen this relationship further, especially as we move towards the Quinquennial review later this year.”
The upcoming Quinquennial review, slated for July 2024, offers BIBA and other stakeholders a platform to share insights to ensure Flood Re’s initiatives remain effective throughout the remainder of the 15-year scheme.
Flood Re CEO Andy Bord expressed enthusiasm over the relationship boost with BIBA, saying: “We are delighted to have now formalised our strong working relationship with Graeme and the rest of the BIBA team by becoming an official BIBA partner.
“The broking community is in the front line when it comes to helping householders access flood insurance, and BIBA’s members also have an increasingly important role to play in helping to spread understanding of the benefits of our ground-breaking Build Back Better scheme and the adoption of property flood resilience measures.
“We are looking forward to building on our existing outreach programme and forging ever closer relationships with BIBA’s wider membership.”
