RSA has appointed a new London market hull business leader that will oversee the company’s team of marine hull and construction underwriters.
Stuart Forsyth, former chief executive of Scottish Boatowners Mutual Insurance Association, has been appointed to the role, RSA announced this morning.

Marsh, after beginning his career with a ten-year stint at the broker Willis Faber & Dumas, where he worked up from a marine trainee to become marine divisional director specialising in North American and Greek business.
Rob Cook, London market marine director, RSA, said: “As well as his technical and leadership skills, Stuart has extensive experience in managing relationships with brokers and clients and will be working with the team to ensure our ongoing hull proposition remains market leading.”
Alongside Forsyth’s appointment, RSA also named Danny Bell as a new underwriter with the firm’s market hull team.
Bell is an experienced hull claims specialist having spent the past 10 years working as an adjuster, and brings in-depth policy and regulatory understanding to his new role, the company said.
After joining global average adjuster Richards Hogg Lindley in Liverpool as a trainee, Bell became a qualified associate of the Association of Average Adjusters where he worked for eight years, before joining RSA’s marine claims team in 2015.
Speaking of Bell’s appointment, Cook said: “We have an excellent track record of recruiting underwriters from our claims teams. We have found their extensive technical knowledge and understanding of the difficulties faced by clients a real benefit in devising and negotiating effective and practical case level risk transfer solutions.
