“Local access to experienced underwriters,” is what specialist MGA platform R&Q Commercial Risk Services is hoping to provide after adding another regional office to its UK line-up.
Part of Randall & Quilter, the firm already has hubs in London, Birmingham and Manchester, and is now adding a new location in Bournemouth. Its managing director James Wheddon is confident that the move will help extend the company’s distribution footprint and provide a more localised service to brokers.
“By combining local distribution with an innovative approach to product development, we believe R&Q CRS has an important role in supporting the underserved independent broker market,” he said. “Today’s announcement is the latest demonstration of this.”
The new office will be led by Simon Coulson who joins from
Towergate where he was business development director for the underwriting division.
“We are always on the lookout for quality people, and are pleased to welcome Simon, he joins us with a wealth of experience developed across various positions that he has held within the regional broker and composite insurer community,” added Wheddon. “We look forward to developing this office with him.”
The move follows on from the firm’s involvement in BIBA’s commercial facility aimed at SMEs who find buying flood insurance difficult, as well as its introduction of embedded cyber cover and a delegated authority platform for brokers.
