QBE Re, which is reporting increased demand from global clients for specialty and property reinsurance in Bermuda, has appointed an underwriting head for the British island territory.
Subject to Bermuda immigration, Andy Richardson (pictured) is joining the reinsurer in June. His credentials include time spent at Lancashire Insurance, Guy Carpenter, and most recently Aeolus Capital Management where he served as portfolio manager.
“I am pleased that we have been able to attract someone of Andy’s calibre to QBE, while demonstrating our commitment to the Bermuda market,” said QBE Re managing director Chris Killourhy.
“Andy’s background, as both a broker and an underwriter in several jurisdictions, coupled with his extensive knowledge of the Bermuda and global property reinsurance markets, will be a huge asset.”
Reporting to QBE Re Bermuda head Tracey Gibbons, Richardson will be focussing on supporting the development of the reinsurer’s Bermuda platform while at the same time further strengthening the group’s global property capability.
Aside from Bermuda, QBE Re also has offices in Brussels, Dubai, Dublin, London, and New York.
