Alan Vallance, the outgoing chief executive of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and incoming CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), is leaving sooner than previously announced.
Instead of in Spring 2024, Vallance’s departure will now take place in less than a month.
“I’m going to finish up at the end of December, although I will be around for a short period of time afterwards – during the time from the end of December to January 1 or 2,” Vallance was quoted by an FT Adviser report as saying.
“The board has decided to ask Gill [White] to take over as acting chief executive until a permanent CEO [is found]. I will stand back gracefully over the next few days into the Christmas break.”
According to the publication, a spokesperson for the CII confirmed both the early exit and the interim appointment. Gill White is the chief customer officer of the professional body.
