Occam Underwriting is tapping an industry veteran’s wealth of knowledge and critical thinking for its board – appointing Dr Alan Punter as non-executive director.
Punter, whose experience includes not only 25 years in global insurance broking groups but also time spent in the academe, is currently a visiting professor in risk financing at the Cass Business School in London. He has been a consultant to insurance companies and the UK-based risk management association Airmic, and worked at the likes of Sedgwick, Alexander & Alexander, and Aon.
“Alan is a prominent thought leader in many fields from risk management and governance to insurance, reinsurance, and insurance-linked assets that are at the intersection between insurance and capital markets,” noted the managing general agent’s chair and chief executive Lance Gibbins.
He continued: “Occam Underwriting brings clear thinking, innovation, data, and analytics to the most complex insurance problems in cyber, space, energy, and other lines. Alan’s wealth of knowledge and his critical thinking will be very valuable to us as we continue to develop our business.”
The board appointment is subject to approval by the Financial Conduct Authority.
