Allianz Partners has announced the appointment of Michael Buttstedt (pictured above) as chief financial officer (CFO) and board member of Allianz Partners Group, effective September 1, 2024. He reports directly to the company’s Global CEO, Tomas Kunzmann.

With over 25 years of experience within the Allianz Group, Buttstedt transitions to his new role from Allianz Italy, where he served as CFO for four years. Prior to that, he was Chief Risk Officer for five years.

His extensive career includes leadership roles such as chief risk officer at Allianz Switzerland and group risk officer at Allianz SE. Buttstedt holds a mathematics degree from the Technical University of Munich and is a member of the Association of Actuaries in Germany.

Tomas Kunzmann, CEO of Allianz Partners, stated that Buttstedt’s expertise in financial strategy and risk management makes him well-suited to the role.

“His deep risk and financial acumen coupled with his rich management experience and very good understanding of Allianz Group, make him the right choice to steer our financial strategy, manage risks and investments as we continue to transform and retain our #1 market position,” Kunzmann said.

Buttstedt replaces Damien Ladous, who has taken on a new position as head of group performance steering at Allianz Group. In his new role, Ladous will be part of the H2 division at Allianz SE and will report directly to Allianz Group CFO Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre

In other recent developments for the insurance group, Allianz Commercial has announced several management changes within Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS SE), its legal entity with board responsibility for the commercial division.

Tracy Ryan, who currently leads Allianz Commercial operations in the Americas, will leave her position on the AGCS SE Board at the end of 2024. Ryan will transition to a new role as CEO of the National Council on Compensation Insurance, a US-based nonprofit workers’ compensation service provider.

Meanwhile, Chris Townsend, member of the Allianz SE Board and CEO Allianz Commercial, noted Ryan’s contributions to the organisation, highlighting her efforts in strengthening Allianz Commercial’s presence in the Americas.
