The recent swathe of significant industry moves has continued today as LV= announced the appointment of Kieran O’Keeffe as its new finance director of general insurance.

O’Keeffe will officially join the insurer during the fourth quarter of the year, subject to regulatory approval. He is making the switch from the Co-Operative Group where he is currently the company’s chief financial officer for general insurance and will start working with Steve Treloar, the company’s managing director of general insurance.

In fact it won’t be O’Keeffe’s first tenure at LV=. He originally joined the company as financial controller back in 2000, before becoming head of service for the group’s IFA and life business ahead of leaving in 2004. From there he has held a number of senior positions at Lloyds Banking Group and Direct Line Insurance.

“I’m looking forward to rejoining LV=,” he said. “It’s a company with a great reputation for quality products and excellent customer service. In the 12 years since I left, the general insurance business has grown significantly, and is in great shape. I look forward to working with Steve and the rest of the general insurance team, contributing to the company’s continued growth and development.”

O’Keeffe will replace Steve Castle who is stepping down and will be leaving the company following a handover period.

Commenting on the changes, Steve Treloar said: “It’s with great pleasure that we welcome back Kieran O’Keeffe as our new finance director, general insurance. Kieran has a wealth of financial management experience in the general insurance arena and I’m looking forward to him joining me and the rest of the senior GI team as we embark on the next phase of LV=’s general insurance journey.

“Our thanks also to Steve Castle for his significant contribution to LV= and in particular to the GI business over more than 10 years. He will be missed by the LV= team and we wish him well for the future.”
