Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has appointed Sarah Howell (pictured) to the newly created role of claims manager – open market specialty.
Responsible for managing the marine, aviation, energy, property, and construction claims team, Howell will report to LSM head of specialty claims Gavin Coley. Her appointment takes immediate effect, and she will be based in London.

We believe her experience and capability, aligned to the claims team she inherits, will continue to develop our claims proposition to support our clients at every stage of the relationship,” commented Gavin Coley.
With over 16 years of experience, Coley most recently served as head of property claims at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. She rejoins LSM after previously working with the company for seven years.
LSM is part of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group.
Last month, LSM made two senior appointments in its Financial Risk Solutions (FRS) division: Huw Owen as FRS chief underwriting officer and Sam Wilde as FRS head of London Markets. The company also tapped Mia Jureidini to the role of political risk underwriter for the FRS.
