Global insurance intermediary Howden has announced the promotion of Jan Tinus Larsen (pictured) to chief executive of Howden Norway, while managing general agent incubator Pro MGA Global Solutions has hired Haris Khan as head of solutions and markets.

Larsen will step into the role in October after serving as deputy CEO from 2018. He is succeeding Anders Kvan, who has led Howden Norway since 2006 and will remain on the firm’s board.

Previously a lawyer at If P&C Insurance, Larsen held the position of managing director at W.R. Berkley Insurance Nordic before he joined Howden.

“I am honoured to take over the leadership of such a remarkable business,” commented the next chief executive. “Anders’ international experience in (re)insurance and the London market has been instrumental in setting Howden Norway apart from its competitors, laying a strong foundation for continued growth.”

According to Howden Iberia & Northern Europe CEO Salvador Marin, Howden Norway has achieved a turnover approaching €20 million under Kvan’s leadership.

Reflecting on his tenure, Kvan shared: “Leading the company from its inception and growing it into a thriving business with over 80 employees has been a fantastic journey. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together.

“The time has come to pass the leadership baton, and I am confident that Jan Tinus, who has been instrumental in our success, is well-prepared to take the company forward.”

Separately, in the MGA space, Pro MGA Global Solutions will welcome Khan on November 1. His arrival is expected to strengthen the incubator’s capabilities in the delegated authority sector, drawing on his prior experience as delegated underwriting manager at Lloyd’s.

The decision to bring Khan on board aligns with Pro MGA Global Solutions’ strategy to enhance its market offerings and drive continued growth through 2025.

“As we continue to build on our successful trajectory, offering an equal blend of business and technical expertise to our clients, whether they are entrepreneurs, brokers, underwriters, or insurtech firms, Haris’s leadership will be crucial in driving our expansion and ensuring that we remain at the forefront of innovation in the delegated authority sector,” declared Pro MGA Global Solutions CEO Danny Maleary.

Echoing Maleary’s positivity, Khan said: “Danny and the team have laid a strong foundation for success, and I am eager to contribute to their sustainable growth by enhancing our market solutions and driving innovation.”
