FUW Insurance Services, a specialist agricultural insurance broker in Wales, has introduced an internal Account Executive Academy as part of its staff development initiatives.
The programme follows an internal selection process that identified six candidates from FUW Insurance Services offices across Wales. Over 18 months, participants will take part in monthly training sessions covering various Account Executive responsibilities, including on-farm visits and direct engagement with insurer partners.
The academy was launched with an all-day session at the Swansea office of ERS, a UK specialist motor insurer. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with ERS staff and underwriters and gain insights into the insurer’s products, services and the broader insurance industry.
This initiative builds on FUW Insurance Services’ approach to employee development, which has been recognised through several awards.
In 2025, the company won three awards at the ‘Success Through Skills’ event, including a gold award for Higher Apprenticeship Learner of the Year and a silver award for Apprenticeship Learner of the Year. In November 2024, it received the Apprentice Employer of the Year (Small) award at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and Personal Finance Society (PFS) annual Apprenticeship Award and qualification prize-giving ceremony in London.
Commenting on the event, Ann Beynon, who became the company’s first female chair in 2023, said the academy’s launch solidifies the company’s commitment in investing in its employees’ growth and development.
“The academy’s launch following our recent triple victory at the 2025 Success Through Skills Awards, further demonstrates our devotion to cultivating a culture of excellence that delivers exceptional value and expertise for our company and our clientele,” she said.
Karen Royles (pictured), operations and sales support director at FUW Insurance, also expressed her delight with the launch at ERS, which she considers a “valued insurer partner.”
“As a business, we have already seen huge success with internal promotions and remain committed for that trend to continue. This academy will therefore provide an invaluable opportunity to nurture staff’s knowledge, skills and confidence, that will hopefully create a clearer progression path – with benefits for the business and our customers,” Royles added.
