DWF partner Nicola Critchley has been tapped to lead the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) through 2023.
Critchley (pictured) will take over from BLM’s Stuart Hardy, who was appointed as president in November 2021 – the same time she was selected to become vice president of FOIL.
"It's a great privilege to be elected as president of FOIL, and I have big shoes to fill, having witnessed the huge achievements of FOIL over the last year,” Critchley said. "FOIL is an incredible organisation because of its members. While there are a number of uncertainties and challenges ahead, FOIL is well-placed to support members with these existing challenges and prepare for those that are emerging."
Critchley has worked with insurers and policyholders for more than 20 years, supporting them in controlling third-party costs and legal spending, and deals with all kinds of costs litigation.
On top of her new role as president, she is also a member of the FOIL National Committee and FOIL Costs Special Interest Group, as well as the insurer representative on the Civil Justice Council.
"We are extremely pleased for Nicola and congratulate her on this prestigious appointment as president,” said Glyn Jones, global head of insurance at DWF. “It is fantastic recognition for all the hard work Nicola does on behalf of the industry."
