Specialist insurance services firm Davies announced that its national Skills Bootcamps for insurance and financial services have received accredited short course endorsement from the Institute of Analytics (IoA), a professional body for analytics and data science professionals in the UK and worldwide.
Launched in January 2024, Davies' Skills Bootcamps are 12-week flexible courses designed to upskill workers in insurance and financial services with essential data skills. These courses were developed with two years of government funding to meet the increasing demands of digitalisation within these sectors.
The IoA, an internationally recognised organisation, supports its members and partners in harnessing data analytics to benefit the global economy. Its endorsement process ensures that the courses meet global academic, professional, and ethical standards in line with industry expectations.
During the Davies Skills Bootcamp, students will acquire skills beneficial for their current roles and future careers, while becoming part of a large community of analytics and data science professionals.
Victoria Miles (pictured above), consulting director – professional education at Davies, highlighted the endorsement, noting the growing need for enhanced data skills in both insurance and financial services.
“The need for enhanced data skills within both insurance and financial services is only increasing. Our digital bootcamps have been specially designed by us to upskill the existing workforce to not only plug the data skills gap, but also retain much needed talent,” Miles said.
Dr Clare Walsh, director of education at the IoA, also commented on the robustness of Davies’ Skills Bootcamps.
“We were very impressed with Davies’ Skills Bootcamps which have been robustly designed to not only meet our Analyst Competency Framework standards and high expectations but also the specific needs of firms working within the highly regulated insurance and financial services sectors. It is essential that people working in financial services take control of the technology and this alliance shows commitment to that process,” she said.
Davies Skills Bootcamps in Data in Insurance and Data in Financial Services are partly funded by the Department of Education and the UK Government. They are free for learners, with employers expected to contribute towards the training costs.
