Business Insurance Solutions has grown its reach in the van insurance market as it has built a profitable book of over 50,000 customers with gross written premiums in excess of £34 million, the firm has announced.
The firm was previously known as VCIL, but it rebranded in September last year as it sought to position the business as not simply a van specialist but a complete, whole of market, commercial brokerage.
This year, it grew its commercial vehicle and SME propositions as it maintained “aggressive” future growth aspirations. The firm has also expanded its senior management team to further accelerate the business through the £50 million gross premium level within the next 18 months.
Business Insurance Solutions recently hired Ian Pritchard as pricing and placement director, starting November 01. He has been working in the insurance industry for 20 years, starting his career at ERS and going on to other underwriting roles at KGM, Groupama and
Ageas, as well as broking for a short time with HERO/Capita. More recently he has been managing a non-standard motor delegated underwriting portfolio at Strategic on behalf of a number of insurers.
In February, the firm added industry veteran Jaimie Hanley as director of marketing and operations. Hanley has spent nearly 28 years in the industry working for
Brightside Group, Eldon Insurance, and EInsurance Services.
In addition, the firm has brought in Lance Testa as group commercial director. He has worked in the industry for over 18 years, and is known for his tenure as head of Commercial Vehicle Direct. Upon leaving that role in 2013, he became the managing director of broking for Eldon Insurance Services and helped to grow its policy count to in excess of 350,000, Business Insurance Solutions said.
“The experience and technical knowledge of these three, blended with the business’s existing entrepreneurial flair is the perfect recipe to further drive us towards our future goals,” said Business Insurance Solutions managing director Euan McDonald. “I have had the pleasure of working with Lance, Jaimie and Ian over the last eight years and to have successfully added them to the BIS family is a great feeling.”
