BMS Group has expanded its specialty energy practice with the appointment of Alex Tesei as director of European energy reinsurance.
Based in London, Tesei will report to BMS Group managing director of energy James Chicken.
Tesei brings with him over 25 years of industry experience. He previously spent a decade at Ribé Salat in Spain, building and leading the company’s reinsurance division, and was the former head of facultative insurance at K.M.Dastur in London. Earlier in his career, Tesei spent four years as managing director at Brex Re in Spain.
“We are delighted to welcome Alex and we look forward to leveraging his know-how and experience as well as contacts in European markets to expand and complement our global reach,” commented Chicken on Tesei’s appointment. “European energy is a dominant issue of the moment from wholesale prices to critical geo-political considerations and climate change.”
Chicken added that BMS is determined to be “the most responsive, dynamic, and expert wholesale intermediary in the energy insurance sector,” and that Tesei’s appointment is proof that the company continues to attract top market talent supporting its growth.

Last month, BMS announced that it had named Chris McDowell as CEO of BMS Re Bermuda. McDowell has more than 30 years of reinsurance industry experience, joining BMS Re from Gallagher Re Bermuda, where he was formerly CEO.
