The London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) has launched the London Emerging Claims Committee (LECC), an initiative aimed at supporting individuals at the early stages of their claims careers within the London insurance market.
The LECC has been established to offer emerging claims professionals a platform to contribute to discussions on the future of the claims function. It is expected to engage with various industry matters, including market reform, claims process improvements, and technical claims issues.
The committee will also align with broader market aims such as education, collaboration, and the development of talent within the claims sector.
The initiative aligns with LIIBA’s strategic agenda for 2025, which highlights the importance of modernising the London insurance market. As part of broader market reform efforts, the LECC is expected to contribute to discussions around the adoption of new technologies, the development of updated claims procedures, and the enhancement of service standards.
LIIBA’s focus on modernisation includes partnerships with industry bodies such as the Lloyd’s Market Association, aimed at streamlining claims management practices and promoting operational efficiencies across the sector.
The committee comprises members from different backgrounds and levels of experience, spanning multiple lines of business and placement types. LIIBA will appoint up to 14 members to the LECC, following a nomination process open to its member firms.
"The London market thrives on talent, and that talent must be nurtured from the start. The Emerging Claims Committee reflects our commitment to giving a voice to those at the beginning of their claims careers and ensuring their perspectives are included in market discussions,” chief executive Christopher Croft said.
The LECC will also work in coordination with LIIBA’s existing claims groups, such as the Claims Operations Liaison Group, established in 2020. By collaborating with established committees, the LECC said that it aims to integrate emerging talent into ongoing efforts to address operational claims issues, encourage best practices, and support the improvement of claims services within the London market.
Amy Simmons from LIIBA will serve as the secretariat. Simmons will oversee initiatives designed to connect early-career claims professionals, including peer group engagement through social media, participation in webinars and industry events, mentoring activities, and collaboration with other claims groups and market bodies.
The LECC will also work alongside LIIBA’s existing claims committees and contribute to efforts to position claims as a long-term career path within the London insurance market.
