It was with “profound sadness” that Aston Lark Ireland shared the news that the insurance stalwart John McHugh passed away on Thursday.
In a tribute to the team’s “dear friend and colleague”, the Dublin-headquartered insurance broker revealed that as director of corporate relationships, McHugh was an invaluable part of the business and well known to everybody across the industry, particularly through his work with the Brokers’ Federation of Ireland (BFI).
“John worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, 20 years in the Wright Insurance Group, now Aston Lark,” Aston Lark Ireland said. “Previously John had run successful businesses such as McHugh O’Leary Insurances and Wright McHugh Insurances Limited.
“We will all miss John more than words can express. He was not just a colleague but a good friend as well.”
McHugh’s funeral mass is due to be held today, Monday, July 25, at 12:00 noon in St. Peter & Paul’s Church, Ballon with burial afterwards in Bennekerry Cemetery. Aston Lark Ireland revealed that as a mark of respect to its esteemed colleague, its Carlow and Wexford offices will be closed today.
“Our thoughts are with John’s wife Orlaith, children Séan and David and to all that knew and loved him,” the broker said. “We offer our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy at this difficult time.”
This is the second time this month the Aston Lark Ireland team have lost an esteemed colleague, following the death of former associate director Barrie Dunphy, who was laid to rest on July 14, 2022.
