The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has another addition to its associate membership.
Hot on the heels of Sainsbury’s Bank joining as associate member is the turn of insurer and legal services provider Carpenters Group. The latter has seven locations across the UK and a workforce of about 1,000 people.
“Better collaboration across the sector is not an option, but essential if we are to combat the evolving threat of fraud in the future claims environment,” commented Carpenters director Donna Scully (pictured), who is a 2018 Insurance Business UK ‘Woman of Influence’.
“Associate membership of the ABI will better enable us to work more closely with our insurance clients and the wider insurance industry on sharing data and intelligence and more actively contribute to the industry fight to stay ahead of the fraudsters.”
The trade body’s associate membership category, which came to life in 2016, allows companies like Carpenters to enjoy benefits such as networking opportunities and access to ABI statistics. Associate members, now approximately 30, have an interest in the sector but are not eligible for full membership.
“It’s great to have Carpenters on board as our latest associate member,” commented ABI director general Huw Evans. “We have a long-standing and collaborative relationship with the Carpenters team and work together on a range of challenging public policy issues.
“With the Civil Liability Act on the statute book, it is important for insurers and claimant law firms to improve our dialogue in the interests of the customers we both serve. I look forward to deepening this relationship even further as we work together in the future.”
