Jason Richards (pictured), who assumed the role of country president and chief executive for the UK and Ireland (UKI) at Swiss Re in January, has joined the Association of British Insurers (ABI) board with immediate effect.
“The ABI plays a vital role in championing our industry and driving change for the good of the sector, the economy, and for customers,” said Richards, who brings three decades of industry experience to the trade body. “It’s an honour to be joining the ABI board and to work with Barry O’Dwyer, Baroness Morgan, and all the board members.”
The new board member was referring to Royal London Group CEO Barry O’Dwyer, president of the association, and ABI chair Baroness Nicky Morgan.
“I’m delighted Jason is joining the ABI board,” commented Morgan, the ABI’s first independent chair. “Having a broad range of experience and perspectives is crucial in helping to navigate the many important issues facing the industry, and Jason will greatly complement our board members with his breadth of skills.”
Meanwhile O’Dwyer expressed his warm welcome on behalf of the board.
“[Richards’] wealth of experience will be a great asset,” noted the president, “and we look forward to working with him as we take forward our strategic vision for the ABI at such a significant time for our nation and industry.”
